With only a glimpse of summer I thought I would transport myself down to the south of France,  from a wine perspective if nothing else.

On first taste, I dare say I was a little disappointed because I was expecting syrah and thought it was a tad thinner and a little higher in acidity.  So when I read the notes there was no real surprise when I found out there was 80% Grenache and 20% Cinsault.

With a nose of white pepper, blackberry and a cocktail of softer fruits, the alcohol does lead heavily even though it is only 13.5%. I reckon taking it down a degree or two would probably work wonders. Even though you don't need to do that here in England at the moment.

Either way as I devour a lump of some saucisson, the acidity goes to work and the wine really softens up and drinks well. Definitely a wine to have at the dinner table.....

Available from D Vine Wine for £11
